Ice forecasts for the eastern waters of Newfoundland and Labrador
issued by Environment Canada at 10:00 a.m. EDT Thursday 28 March
2024 for today tonight and Friday.
The next scheduled forecasts will be issued at 10:00 a.m. Friday.

First ice edge estimated from Newfoundland near 4840N 5303W to 4950N
5056W to 5408N 5120W to 5700N 5700W to 5959N 5830W to 6200N 5545W
then northeastward. Sea ice west of the ice edge.

Second ice edge estimated from 6200N 5315W to 6130N 5245W to 6047N
5129W then eastward. Sea ice east of the ice edge.

Strait of Belle Isle.
Bergy water except 4 tenths first-year ice in the northeastern
section. Consolidated first-year ice along parts of the coasts.

Belle Isle Bank - northern half.
Bergy water except 7 tenths first-year ice including a trace of old
ice in the western section.

Belle Isle Bank - southern half.
2 tenths first-year ice except 9 tenths first-year ice in the
extreme western section.

South Labrador Coast.
8 tenths first-year ice except 9 tenths first-year ice including a
trace of old ice in the northeastern section. Consolidated
first-year ice along parts of the coast.

Lake Melville.
Consolidated first-year ice.

Mid Labrador Coast.
8 tenths first-year ice including a trace of old ice. Consolidated
first-year ice along the coast.

South Labrador Sea.
Bergy water except 7 tenths first-year ice including a trace of old
ice in the extreme western section.

North Labrador Coast.
8 tenths first-year ice including a trace of old ice. Consolidated
first-year ice along parts of the coast.

Northwest Labrador Sea.
Bergy water except 6 tenths first-year ice including a trace of old
ice in the western and northern sections.

East Labrador Sea.
