Search and Rescue

The primary objective of the Canadian Coast Guard Search and Rescue (SAR) Program is to save lives at risk, within its jurisdiction. The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) is responsible for providing SAR resources in Canada. The Coast Guard falls under the aegis of Fisheries and Oceans Canada. In the Quebec Region, the CCG deploys a number of services to help boaters. Among these is support for the SAR Program, in collaboration with the Department of National Defence, as concerns coordinating the National SAR Program (NSP) for marine distress incidents.
