Transport Canada

Office of Boating Safety

  • Add within the marine safety regulations, the obligation of fitting boats with a radar reflector and ventilating boats running gas engines as a means of preventing explosions at marina refuelling stations.

Protection of navigable waters

  • Remove or mark the boom anchoring structures used for pulp floating on the Saint-Maurice River.

Department of National Defence

  • Mark the Lake St-Pierre DND shooting zone with only lighted buoys.

    Actions taken :

  • This marking (lighted and unlighted buoys) was designed jointly with the Canadian Coast Guard to define the shooting zone and meets current CCG standards.


Environement Canada

Canada Meteorological Service

  • Implement a weather service for Îles-de-la-Madeleine, for added boater and fisher safety.

  • Ensure that weather forecasts support fishing activities on Lower North-Shore and, in that respect, check the operational status of the wind measurement equipment located at different stations (e.g. Cape Whittle) because broadcast data are often outdated (same data broadcast for several days).
