Inshore Rescue Boat Program
Yes. You would still be eligible for the program. Once selected (if such is the case), you may ask your educational institution to grant you special permission to write your exams earlier or later than scheduled so that you could be available for the training period.
No. You would not be penalized. Students are to
provide us with the date they resume their studies in the fall and then will be released from the program on the agreed date. We will fill their positions on the work teams with other students already working under the program.
We prefer that you telephone us so that we may determine the elements that are lacking in your file and together agree on how you may complete the training required so as to not be penalized.
Provided that you satisfy the selection criteria of the Public Service Commission and of the Canadian Coast Guard, you may apply for a job prior to the closing date.
Since the employment agreement is valid for one season only, you would need to re-register the following season and meet the criteria of the region to which you are submitting your application.
The rescue stations in the Québec Region are not equipped with student accommodation facilities. Once the training period begins, the students working at the same rescue station generally make arrangements to meet their lodging requirements in a given region or exchange information for low-priced lodging.
Once the application deadline has passed, the Public Service Commission does not provide the Canadian Coast Guard with any other candidacies for the job in question.
Students whose applications are retained and who are enrolled in training period do not pay to participate in it. No additional students are admitted, whether as auditors or as participants.
